20 cars fronted in Huntly on Saturday 24 February for the New Zealand Modified Grand Prix. Three 20 lap races would decide the title.
Heat 1 Allan got grid 4. He moved quickly into 2nd spot and passed Blakeley 56A to take the lead and the first heat win.
Heat 2 Allan had grid 14. Tama 9W hit the front early on, Allan moved into 2nd and gave chase. Tama and Allan fought it out up front with Tama finishing 1st and Allan 2nd.
After the first two heats Allan had 39 points, Foxy with 37 points, and Tama with 35 points. These three guys pretty much being way ahead in points.
Heat 3 Allan had grid 14 again. Foxy had grid 6. To win Allan knew he only had to finish directly behind Foxy. It took Allan a wee while to make any progress but he slowly made his way into 4th behind Mark Ward which is where he finished.
Heat 1 - grid 4 finished 1st
Heat 2 - grid 14 finished 2nd
Heat 3 - grid 14 finished 4th
After heat 3 both Allan & Foxy were tied on 56 points. Tama was back in 3rd with 51 points. This meant a runoff to decide the title between Allan & Foxy, Allan started on grid 2 and Foxy on grid 1. As expected Allan won the start and drove away to keep the title.
